It's just stupid to mispell a word name. You wouldn't use Rowse or Reevar.

Thing is the name itself is usually not referring to water falling from the sky, so that's a moot point.

Neither. I have this thing about word names. If you are going to use them, spell them as you would find in the dictionary.

Raine looks weird to me for some reason, like you should pronounce it ryne or something. Not sure why.

I've only known one Raine (graduated with her in high school) and she spelled it like this ;o) It doesn't look as trendy as Rayne.

Depends on the meaning you're looking for.
Raine feels more nateral and less like a person's trying to be trendee.
