I like Brian - I am from Dublin and grew up on stories of Brian Boru. I personally prefer and would use Briain (Bree-in). I had an uncle Brian who died as a baby and my father had a cousin Brian who died young so the name is tinged with sadness for me.

I've always enjoyed Brian and despised Ryan, which seems very dull in comparison. I don't know why people feel the need to spell it Bryan!Brian Mitchell was a successful boxer where I live. Also quite handsome!

Ew... No offense, Brians or girlfriends, sisters, etc. of Brians.

My boyfriend's name is Brian :)Brian Nikolaus, to be exact. Nikolaus is like Nicholas. I'm quite pleased with his name :) My next favorite combo would be Brian Astor

I like it too but spelled BryanMaybe because of Bryan Adams...I don't know. I really like Ryan too so maybe that's why I like that spelling :)

I can't like Brian at all. It's so dated and frumpy. It makes me think of a lonely, grumpy, middle-aged man.

I love Brian, it's my hubby's name. Brian Mitchell is a great combo.

Yes, I love Brian too. It is very strong, but gentle. Someone wrote on here (or another board) about how it was overly used in the 80's. I must have missed that. I was just getting into child bearing years back then and I think I would have picked up on the name. Maybe I missed it. Ryan was crowding out all other "when will they stop using this name?" names in my mind. Brian Mitchell is very handsome. Others you might like:Brian Heath
Brian Dennis
Brian Gregory
Brian Alasdair
Brian Thaddeus
Brian Kendall
Brian Kendrick
Brian Robert
Brian Thomas
Brian Emeric
Brian Joseph (initials be damm*d)
Brian Jesse
Brian Jericho
Brian Patrick (an oldie but a goodie)
Brian Conor
Brian Malachy (my favorite)
Brian Oliver
Brian Seamus
Brian Magnus You like? :-)

"initials be damned" hah.About its popularity- I don't know too many adult Brians, but there are loads my age at my school.

*swoon*Brian MalachyI'm very glad someone else here shares my Malachy love. :)And I don't know how you missed the Brian thing. I know more Brians and Bryans around my age than any other name, I think. But I think it's classic enough that I don't specifically date it to the 70s/80s.
