WDYT of Vernon?
What do you think of the name Vernon? This was my grandpa's name, and I think if I have a boy child someday, I would like to name him this. The only combo I can think of is Vernon Theodore. Can you think of any combos?
Also, what do you think of Ottowa Minnie? This was my great-aunt's name.

Vernon Theodore is a good combo.
I'm not crazy about Vernon though. It is a very grandpa type name to me & I think of Vern from the Ernest movies.
Ottowa Minnie - also sounds old (over 75), although Ottowa is interesting as a first name. Is it after the city or a feminazation of Otto?

I like it. I used to know a very handsome Vernon, once.
Vernon Theodore is great! I also quite like Vernon Henry, Vernon Ira, Vernon Edward and Vernon Francis.
Ottowa Minnie is really unusual and interesting.

Vernon is one of those names that is so dated and stereotyped that it would be kind of a statement to use it. Like, if your family tends to be goodlooking and talented with a great sense of humor, you could totally use it. It says "I'm so cool, I make the name Vernon cool."I grew up with a kid named Vernon, a good friend's little brother, who was Vernon Middlename Surname IV. He was a fun person. And nobody called him Vern. His middle name (a surname name, I think) started with V and ended with N, too, and it sounded cool. Vernon Theodore sounds fine. If I liked Vernon I'd be tempted to use Vernon Victor or Vernon Vincent.

Uncle Vernon.I understand that it was your grandpa's name, but I do not like it at all. It's dated [and this is coming from someone who loves old names] and reminds me of the Harry Potter character.Vernon Lucas
Vernon Oliver
Vernon Joseph
Vernon BradleyOttowa Minnie's not something I like, either, reminds me of the place.

First it makes me think of Vernon Dursley, so unpleasant. Then it makes me think of Mike Vernon, so that's cool. It also makes me think of Mount Vernon. In general I think Vernon is a bit stuffy, but I can see it becoming nice and rough and woodsy in the same way I've come to love Norman and Walter. A few combo ideas to brighten it up, perhaps:
Vernon Dashiell
Vernon Gulliver
Vernon Eifion
Vernon Omri
Vernon PherickAs for Ottowa Minnie, I totally agree with Dracotorix. It sounds like a character in a Western. Pretty cool! The spelling Ottowa bothers me, though.

Dursley, unfortunately.Because I like it a lot otherwise. I could probably get over that association though, especially if I met one. Vernon Lucius, Vernon Cael, Vernon Aethelred, Vernon Oliver, Vernon Theodoric, Vernon Orpheus, Vernon Alexandros, Vernon Padraig, Vernon Gideon, Vernon Isidore
Ottowa Minnie is cool, although I'd never use it. It sounds like a character in a western or something :P
