Averil
Hello everyone! I am currently re-reading the Anne of Green Gables series. In it, Anne writes a story called "Averil's Atonement." Ever since, I've been pondering the name Averil. I have a couple of questions. First of all, what do you think of it? I'm still pondering the aesthetics of it. Secondly, how do you think it's pronounced?
Is it Ayv-rul or Ayv-er-ull or a more pronounced version of "Avril?"Lastly, do you think it's too "Avril Lavigne?" I admit, that was my first thought, but I won't be having any kids for at least 10 years. Do you think the association will have faded by then?

I'd tend to say it AVV-uh-rill without instruction. Not AYV.I wouldn't worry about Avril Lavigne associations. Surely she's a flash in the pan, and if not, the name is probably popular enough anyways. I'd be more concerned that it looked like one of those surnames-from-the-phone-book-that-sounded-cool. But I think it's alright; it strikes me as unisex, not terribly feminine.
