Thyra
I first discovered Thyra as the name of the youngest daughter of Christian IX of Denmark. Princess Thyra was a sister to Russian Dowager Empress Marie. I fell in love with it instantly, but eventually I forgot about it. I rediscovered it just today. What do you think of the name Thyra?

I like it! It reminds me of Thora and Tyra.

It's pretty, but I bet it would be mispronounced often where I live. I doubt that most people in the States would look at it and pronounce it "TEE-ra." I think it would be fine to use in a Scandinavian country though.

It could be quite pretty...but I would be concerned about pronunciation issues. Depending on where you live, I imagine the pronunciation would be butchered frequently to sound like "Thigh-ra", which is unfortunate.

Ironically, that's how I pronounced it years ago. I wasn't even aware of that then!
