Kirk
It just came to mind and I think it's kind of cool. Opinions? Do you know anyone named this?

I love Kirk, it is masculine, classic feeling and under used. Dirk is also a cool name as well. Cool is definitely the feeling I get from Kirk and Dirk. They both give off strong coolitude vibes.
:p Sorry I'm a geeky gamer girl and coolitude is a fun word we like to use. I just couldn't help myself.I've met maybe two Kirk's before and one Dirk.

It sounds awkward to me and feels weak. I think of Kirk from Gilmore Girls so not a name I would use.
I like Kurt much better. It feels strong and stable to me.

My swimming coach was named Kirk. He was Australian so that's who I picture when I hear the name, but hey, an extremely tall, tanned, muscle-y Aussie isn't a bad association for me. ;)
....Kirk is also what my Granny calls churches. She goes to 'the Kirk' on a Sunday.

Wow... I've never seen a couch swim... and an imported one from Aus. at that... how fascinating... jk... am sure you meant coach... and that's not a bad association at all.

Oops! Thanks for bringing that to my attention! :)A swimming couch would be impressive. ;)

I read a Ray Bradbury short story the other day with a character called Joseph Kirk and the combination really appeals to me.
I like the crispness of Kirk to balance the heavier names I usually prefer but I'm not quite sold on it by itself or as a first name.

I've always really disliked it (and Kurt, which often sounds basically the same and feels so similar they're like the same thing to me). It's just an unnattractive syllable. I do like that it's a word for church though. I went to school with 2-3 Kirks and have known 1-2 older ones too.

Strange Kurt and Kirk as so different feeling to me. Kurt makes me think of the word curt, as in abrupt or rude or it makes me think of Kurt Cobain. Kirk makes me think of Kirkland or Captain Kirk or the name Dirk. Kirk feels Scottish to me and Kurt feels German.

I don't like it, it's just in the category of names which I think sound "too American" (also including Hank, Chuck, Dirk, Brett...). Also I think of Captain Kirk.

I like it, it's sharp. I had a neighbor named Kirk (a real estate agent, about 45) but it doesn't seem terribly dated to me.

When I hear the name, I immediately think of Kirk Cameron (Growing Pains back in the 80s and then a few more recent movies) and Captain Kirk (Star Trek). Can't really recall meeting any. It's an ok name. It would be refreshing in that it's not overused and not way out there at the same time.

Love Kirk. Some people may associate it primarily with Captain Kirk of Star Trek. But for me I think of Scottish history, which has a special allure for me. I find Kirk romantic, moody and so so cool.
