Dora
What do you think of Dora, on it's own not short for anything. Too Dora the explorer?

Yeah I definitely think of Dora the Explorer! I do like Norah and Cora though. I think Norah looks more complete and less nicknamey than other -ora names, because of the H on the end (although Corah or Dorah looks silly!)

Annoying and sugary-sweet.My great-grandmother was Dora Effie.

It's much too Dora the explorer for me. It'd probably work as a nickname for something longer though, like Theodora.

It's really hard to separate from Dora the Explorer since that's the first context many people have for the name.

I have liked Dora since I was little and it was the name of the street my grandparents lived on.
I think it is old fashioned and sweet. I said the same thing about Lucy but it is cute without being cutesy. I can picture a young Dora or an old Dora. I like it as a nickname or on it's own.
I do think of Dora the Explorer but it is not the first image that pops into my mind.

I love Dora! It can definitely fare well on its own, and I don't think it's inextricably tied to the explorer.

I could see Dora making a bit of a comeback. It fits with some of the other short oldish-feeling names, in my opinion. Like Nora, Ella, Ava, Alice. It's cute, I don't mind it a bit. Yes, I think of Dora the Explorer, but that's not the worst association. And Ruby seems to be on the rise despite Max and Ruby.

That's a good point about the oldish-feeling names. I think Dora the Explorer might have actually halped Dora to be seen as younger than names like Nora and Alice.

I like it. It does make me think of Dora the Explorer, but I don't think that's too big of a deal. I'd love to see more little Doras running around.

I don't have the best connotations with it. It makes me think of Dora from David Copperfield, who was a frivolous character I didn't really like. It also is just too...cute. Too aDORAble for my taste. I like Dorothy better; it's more matured.
