wdyto Ara
I met an Ara on facebook and I really am starting to like it (for a boy of course). It fits in with some of my favorite -a boys names (Elisha, Ezra etc). So what do you think? I like Ara Calvin or Ara Jørgen.

Ara Jorgen is a great combination. It makes a nice change of pace, but it's not too "out there." When I see / hear Ara I think of the football coach, Ara Parsegian (sp?). So it's all male to me.

Eh, I prefer Ari. That said, Ara Calvin isn't bad. I prefer Ara on a girl. Growing up, it was my best friend's sister's name. I fell in love with it. For twenty years, I've been trying to either put aside my usual aversion to boy names on girls or to love a name that could give me Ara as a nn, like Samara, Mara, Lara, or Arabella. I prefer just Ara over any of them, and I've made my peace with the fact that it's male in Armenian. My big problem with Ara now is that I think it would constantly be misread as Ava. That would be even more irksome for a boy.

I like it. I prefer it for a girl (mainly as a nickname) but I can see it fitting in with names like Asa and Ira. I like Ara Jørgen.
