Jane
Thinking a lot about Jane lately. It honors my father (John), but I don't know what middle name to stick with it. I don't want Jane in the middle because it feels filler-y. Jane Isabel occurred to me, but I'm not sure. Thoughts? My other top combos are:Margaret Rose "Maggie"
Catherine Esther
Georgia Lillian
Eliza Helen
Sophie Alice
Florence ElaineI want to use family names and other classic names. So far, all the middle names are family names. Other family names that I haven't used are Dorothea (from Dorothy, which I don't like), Estelle (dubious on this one, she was bitchy), Ruth, Sarah, Molly (Mollie), Matilda (not sure how much I like it), Sylvia, Pearl, Anne, Bessie, and Eidel. I was a little fuzzy about it because Jane is directly from John, so does that count as a family name? Sorry to ramble! What do you think?

Jane needs something especially interesting in the middle name slot to spice up her simplicity. Jane Victoria
Jane Magdalena
Jane Christabel
Jane Eleanora
Jane AriadneLike any of those?Out of your other combos, I like Sophie Alice. It's very cute.

I do like Jane Victoria and Jane Ariadne, but not quite enough to put on my short list. :( Jane is difficult for me! I think you're right, she needs an interesting MN to spice her up. That's why I was leaning towards Dorothea over the others; it just seems more interesting.

If you want to honor your father, Joanna or Jean or Jeanette or Janelle or Janine would all be less blah than Jane. Jane might be kind of a filler as a middle name, but as a first name it seems like a "default" name. Like Dick and Jane.

I think Jane goes perfectly with your other girls names, particularly Margaret and Catherine. It would definitely be nice to see a young Jane, rather than just another middle name Jane.Jane Isabel is OK, but I don't think it's perfect.
Jane Dorothea could work, or Jane Matilda. It's up to you whether you consider Jane to be a family name. I personally wouldn't count it because, although they're related, Jane and John don't sound that similar, but it's personal preference and you need to decide yourself.

I could also throw in some Jpns. names if you want... some of them would sound spunky w/ Jane. There's another Jane thread further down if you'd like to look at that as well.

Thank you for those MNs! I especially like the feel of Jane Esperanza (gorgeous!), Jane Myfanwy (always loved Myfanwy), and Jane Vivienne. Vivienne is a family name for me that I left off the list, so that works particularly well. :) Thank you!

I think it's beautiful and boring at the same time. I think I'd use Joanna to honor a John. I also like Joan and Joanne. Scroll down a little bit. I posted on Jane a few days ago.I love Catherine Esther. I also really like Georgia, Margaret and Elaine. Georgia Elaine would be nice.I love Dorothy. The meaning is great too. I love Estelle but like you I have never met a really nice one. I also like Matilda. Yeah Jane counts as a family name! How about:Margaret Estella
Georgia Estelle
Matilda Elaine
Margaret Elaine
Anne Estella

Such lovely names, most of them. Glad you want Jane as a fn, and it certainly counts as a family name; but that makes it even better. Might you consider two mns? Jane Sylvia Helen? Jane Georgia Pearl? Jane Ruth Florence? Jane Alice Lillian?

I really like the other combos that I have; those probably won't change, so using those other names as middle names for Jane doesn't work for me. I do like Jane Alice, which means I ditch Sophie Alice and then replace it with... Sophie Dorothea. I do like that, actually. Hmm. Food for thought.I have no problem with the concept of two middle names for Jane. I just don't know how I feel about Jane having two while everyone else has one.

The chances are that you'll always have more names you want to use than you'll have children to give them to! So it makes sense to double up on the mns.
