Many of them are nice, but it's a shame that many of them aren't actually French. Where do Maloée and Tasmin come from?Lots of Arabic names for the boys (makes sense due to the sizable population of North African immigrants in France), but I like Arabic names.

I wonder if Maloée might have a link to St.-Malo. It looks somewhat Breton. And I find Tasmin uncomfortably close to both Jasmin (not in France, though!) and Tasneem (Tasnim) - could be a typo, could be a merger.

Guess so, although Tasnim is a girls' name in Arabic. Maybe Tasmin is Berber? For those who don't know, Berbers are the original inhabitants of Northwest Africa. They speak their own languages separate from Arabic (although they use that as a second language), and look very different from most Arabs, with some even looking very European. A number of the North Africans in France are actually Berbers. Some Berbers still use names from Berber languages, such as Kahina for girls.

Lovely, as I would expect. There are some of my favorite names here, like Elsa (!) and Clement. And how great is it to see the likes of Victoire and Hugo on a list? But I'm a little concerned about some seemingly random "y's" making it into some names, like Elyna and Avryl. Someone please, please! tell me that's not influenced by U.S. trends but is in fact a French tradition. (please?)
