Anika and Ari
I've been considering these two names and whether to keep them on my PNL.
Anika I love and it was my top contender for a name to honor my grandmother (I'm currently more into Ana-Sofia).
I like Ari for a boy, but prefer it as a nickname for Ariel. Ariel, nn Ari would be in my top five for a son if it wasn't for that rotten detergent association. What do you think? Yes, no, maybe? Why? Any combo ideas?

I don't mind Anika, but have always loved Danica far more. Between Anika and Ana-Sofia....well that's a tough call. Ana-Sofia is so pretty. But Anika has so much life. I just don't know.Is Ari pronounced are-ee (as opposed to air-ee)? As you mentioned, the Ariel association probably renders that unusable for a boy. But what about Ari as a nickname for one of these?

Yea, I'm having a tough time deciding between all Ana derivatives to find a honoring name. I think I might just make a list of all possibilities and let my husband decide when the time comes. Danica is not pronounced with a K here, so it's not an option. I pronounce Ari as AH-ree. Unfortunately, I only like Ares and Armando and they're not really usable here. Arian is another option, but might not be a good idea if he moves from Croatia.

I really like Anika, but I agree that Ana-Sofia is better. Anika is kind of nicknamey IMO. Ana-Sofia seems more polished. As for Ariel/Ari I love it. It's very handsome.

Not a huge fan of Anika but I like Ariel/Ari for either genders. I've known both a male Ariel and an Ari so it's more normal for me. I just think Ari is cute without being like super childish and unable to grow up with a person. Ariel Reuben
Ariel Jude
Ariel David
Ariel Francis
Ariel Wolf
Ariel Clement
Ariel Baptiste
Ariel Sebastian
