Olivine
Is it usable? Does it seem like it's trying too hard to be Olive's hipster cousin? I love Olive too but think Olivine has a more pleasing image("-ine" = een)

I really like Olivine I think it sounds beautiful but I immediately think of the word and mostly of the color olive, but I think Olivine works as a name.

I think Olivine is lovely; doesn't strike me at all as if it's "trying too hard".

I don't like the sound of it. Ol-iv-een...I keep hearing Bush's "Glycerine" in my head, and I hate that song.

trying to hard to sound like salad dressing is what I think

I think it could work. A lot of uncommon gemstone/mineral names seem sort of trashy to me, but not Olivine. It feels a little quaint, like a name written in faded copperplate script in an old family bible. I like it. Olivine would be cute for someone born in August, given that the birthstone (peridot) is the the most precious form of olivine. I'm always looking for ways to honor my August-born mom, so I'm putting Olivine on my own middles list. The more I think about it, the more I like it. Thanks for the find! :)

It is too contrived for my liking.

I like it. It's cooler than Olive and better than the prissier gem names.

Makes me think of Olivine City, or a brand of olive oil. I prefer just Olive.
