Actually..I know of this happening personally. Except the name was Ka-a, pronounced kuh-DASH-uh. It really is atrocious.

You posted about this Ka-a once before, and I responded that if you were going to state that a well-known urban legend is a fact, then you would have to prove it to me. You didn't respond, as far as I know, unless I missed it. I ask you once more to prove that this Ka-a exists. If you won't or can't, then I decline to believe it.

How do I actually prove that my nephew is named Shaun without violating his privacy? I think that is a concern.

Yes. But if Peacemonger at least posted a first hand personal experience, such as "I met her and she told me her name is K-a and she told me that's how it's spelled and she told me that's how it's pronounced", then I think I would accept that. But not, "Well, that's what my sister's friend's daughter says who lives across the street from her." So far, she hasn't responded at all either time I challenged her.

CorrectionIt was a poster named Ella who previously posted about a Ka-a. She said that it was the name of a "girl at one of the elementary schools near my house." She was the one to whom I responded that way. It may be that Ella was Peacemonger posting under a different name. If not, then I think the fact that both Ella and Peacemonger claim to know of a Ka-a is further proof that Ka-a is just another form of the La-a urban legend.

This belongs on the Surnames Board, if anywhere.

Why?It's not a surname.

It's a mystery, though.A couple of posts previously, Bear called out one PrincessJazzyFae or something for trolling. She was stressing about people not liking the ln 'Gay'. I posted my put-down about the Surnames Board as a reply to her, and it should have appeared along with Bear's. Being the trusting type, I didn't check to see where it went. Why, and how, it landed up where it did, I can't imagine. But I do share your bewilderment. Especially since I only read the Dash post today, long after my reply to something quite different appeared below it! I hope the Ghost In The Machine had fun.

This has been disproved and discussed here many times.http://www.snopes.com/racial/language/le-a.aspIt is just a stupid viral email that has become an urban legend and it has racist undertones IMO.

AND! When you tell people its an urban myth they lie and say THEY KNOW that girl. Really?

Okay, like I mentioned it seemed fake to me at first, but I guess with repeated exposure..
