Somerled on a girl?
SO's initial reaction to Somerled was that it sounded feminine. WDYT of Somerled on a girl?

No, no, no! It's much better and more dignified on a boy. :)

No. Soon there won't be any masculine names left for parents of little boys except John, Jacob and Jordan. Ooooops! Seriously, there are so many wonderful names for girls out there. Please leave the traditionally masculine ones alone. :-)

I don't like it on a boy because it sounds pretentious. I don't like it on a girl because it sounds masculine and pretentious. Summer is pretty though.

I've always thought Somerled sounded feminine. I can definitely see it working on a girl particularly if someone is going for a more unisex, surname feel.

Sure it could be feminine, because of Somer / Summer.I don't mind it, like I'm neutral on Somerled on either gender. I'd rather see it in the MN spot, but it's neat.

I like it. It can bend into a uni name for me.Somerled Ivy just sprang to my mind, even though you weren't asking for combos.
