Annabess / Bess
I've really been loving the nns Bess and Bessie, lately... I know I know, most people are probably going to say "cow name" but either way your opinions are welcomed ;) Even if you're not keen on Bess, how's about Annabess?

I think Bess on its own would be fine. Annabess just makes me think of an abbess.

I love Bess and Bessie too! They are no more bovine to me than Elsie is. Elsie is beginning to shake off the cow thing, at least on these boards. So maybe Bess and Bessie's day will not be far behind. :-)Annabess? Keep trying, sorry. How about: Beatrice / Beatrix / Betrys, Betsabé / Bathsheba, Sabina, Benicia, Basima, Sebastienne, Bisera?

I like Bess, but Bessie does sound a bit like a cow! I actually prefer Tess to Bess as it sounds a bit more grown-up. Annabess is too made up for me as it sounds like you wanted to call her Bess without using Elizabeth.

Cannabis? Its not too bad in the sense that it doesn't sound too dissimilar to Anabel, Isabel, etc. But the fact that it sounds too much like Cannabis to me, puts me off.

I think of Gershwin's Porgy and Bess - the Opera - when I see that name, because my uncle has been performing as Porgy or Crown for decades :)I'm not sure how I feel about Annabess though. I feel like it will sound like saying Annabeth with a lisp...

I can see the appeal of Bess or Bessie as a nickname. I think Annabess sounds horrible and will always be confused for Annabeth. Now I think Elisabeth nickname Bess or Bessie could work and would be cute.
