I recently bought a guitar, and have decided to name it Vermillion, Milly for short. What do you think?

Well, Milly may be a little cliched as a name for an inanimate object. It's what my daughter and son-in-law call their car. I know someone else who calls her car Jeff. Jeff seems less cliched. I'd call the guitar Steve.

I didn't really think about it being cliched, I just didn't want to have to say Vermillion a lot! And I did want to use a female name, although I do love Steve.

Aces. Is it vermilion in color? 'Twould make a lot of sense if it was.

It's not, but I love the sound of it. For some reason, I've always associated vermillion with green.

Whatever. It's a guitar. It doesn't have to have a name, but some people do give them names. I definitely think a nickname for a named inanimate object is silly.
