Maria
This has been one of my favorite names for a long time. It's really, really overused here in Brazil, but I still like it.What do you think of Maria? What would you pair it with?

My 3-year-old sister is Maria. What a beautiful and iconic name! It's not too common here in the midwestern US. I just love it.

I like it, BUT not too much since it is very overused.
Therefore I would choose a different first name and use Maria as the middle name.
The other name shouldn't be too extravagant but classy just like Maria. My suggestions:Anna/Ana Maria
Isabel/Isabela Maria
Carlota Maria
Catarina Maria
Clarissa Maria
Cloe Maria
Eliana Maria
Emilia Maria
Estela Maria
Felicia Maria
Ines Maria
Joana Maria
Josefina Maria
Leticia Maria
Luisa Maria
Sabina Maria
Sara Maria

Maria Christina
Maria Francesca
Maria Juliet
Maria Louisa, Maria Louise
Maria Susanna
Maria Magdalene
Maria Charlotte

Maria really does nothing for me and I find it quite boring. I always think of two things when I hear this name and they are both characters from movies! West Side Story and The Sound of Music both have main characters named Maria, so they are my associations. There are plenty of names that would work as a mn with Maria, just depends what you are after.

It bores me to tears, the same way that Mary does. Even though I've known nine to ten girls or women named Mary and not one named Maria, I still find Maria every bit as unimaginative and as big a borefest as Mary, just from knowing it's the Spanish form of Mary. So many more interesting names out there than Mary and Maria. Both seem like what you slap on a kid when you can't be bothered.

It's really weird cos I love so so many Mari- names but Maria is just kind of meh. It's really overused here too, so maybe that's why. I just hear it ALL the time...So Maria is nice but I way prefer names like:
Mari (mah-ree)
Maren (mah-ren)
Marianne
Mairi (mah-ree)
MarionBut if I was using Maria I'd probably pair it with...
Maria Aveline
Maria Calanthe
Maria Camille
Maria Celeste (actually, no. Because of the Mary Celeste that wouldn't work)
Maria Estelle
Maria Josephine
Maria Louise
Maria Sarai
Maria Seren
Maria Summer
Maria Skye
Maria ZoeIt goes with so many things (:

It's very overused here in Texas, too. That kind of holds me back, though I think it's beautiful, and I love how multicultural it is. Maria also happens to be my mom's second middle name, but she loathes it.Maria Alexandra Elizabeth -my mom's name in reverse, and the Maria combo I'd use.
Maria Daphne
Maria Ivy
Maria Hilary
Maria Scarlett

I love the name Maria. I wouldn't have minded naming our daughter that, but my husband hates the name so it was off the table.
Maria Rose
Maria Christina
Maria Dawn
Maria Theresa
Maria Suzanne
Maria Jessica
Maria Beth

I know a sort of Maria Theresa, but it's Marie-Therese (not the same thing, I know!).she's always called Mimi, except by her husband, who is a solidly English-speaking U.S.guy, he calls her Mary. I also know a Maria Rose! (age about 22.)Maria Dawn, my favourite.
