Delaney/Laney/Lane
What are your opinions on these names Delaney, Laney, and Lane? My husband and I really like Lane and would have used it if our daughter (Claire Nicole) was a boy. It's not necessarily our top choice, but we also like Laney, probably as a nickname for Delaney, for a girl. What are your opinions of these names? How do you think they sound as a sibling to Claire? The full name for Lane would be Lane William Provancha (Pro-van-cha). (William being in honor of my grandfather.)What middle names would you suggest with Delaney? Delaney _______ Provancha (Delaney Mae is a possibility, Mae being a family name.)

Thank goodness I am not the only one...I agree. Delaney and Laney sound whiney. And Delaney sounds like "Duh, Laney" to me.

Delaneyis one of the few surnames I think sounds cute on a girl. I'm not too fond of Laney, though, and I really don't care for Lane for a boy. It just sounds too "smooth" to me. Image hosting by Photobucket

I love Delaney but I fear it's rather trendy. I rarely like nicknames but Laney is a sweet one. They sound fine with Claire, although imo, Delaney outshines the simpler Claire somewhat.Delaney Provancha sounds gorgeous - you have a great surname to work with. Middle name ideas ...Delaney Adele

I really like Lane for a boy, but Delaney for a girl is a bit tacky to me, sorry. I just dislike unisex names and surnames for girls as a whole, though. :b I think Lane/Layne/Laine is fine for a girl, though, better than Delaney, imo. I even know of two people named Melanie (pronounced the "regular" way) nn Lanie, LAY-nee.
