Oswald
Too clunky? What is your overall impression of Oswald? Willoughby wolloughby willina, an elephant sat on Billina.

I like it.The Portuguese form Osvaldo (as well as the variant Oswaldo) are pretty common here.

All I can think of is Lee Harvey Oswald. Oswald is so rare here that I don't have any other associations.

Even Lee Harvey is better than Oswald. lol
It's clunky, and it is tainted.
Even Lee Harvey himself was aware of the problem with his last name; when he was in the Marines he was nicknamed Ozzie the Rabbit by his fellow servicemen. They used it sarcastically, basing it on the name of a cartoon character Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. The sarcasm was that old Lee Harvey was unlucky and something of a loser even back then.

Lee Harvey, a rabbit, and just really unattractive. I'd hate to have Oswald even as a surname, though I once worked with someone who did.

here's something funny for you ...There was a kind of hair-metal band from the late eighties called Warrant. In those days and that genre it was the cool thing for male members of those type of bands to adopt feminine sounding names as a joke, what with their heavy makeup, huge hair, flashy clothes, etc. So you have guys calling themselves Tracii Guns, Niki Sixx, etc. And this singer from Warrant called himself Jani Lane. (They're most famous for their song Cherry Pie and the racy video that went along with it.)
Anyway, Jani Lane died of alcohol poisoning a couple years ago so was briefly in the news again.
His real name?John Kennedy Oswald.

Don't really have an overall impression. The first Oswald I knew was wonderful, then some forgettable ones, and then a parasitical skunk. I do like the history, though - the sheer age of it commands our respect!

I adore it! I also love Osbert, Osmond / Osmund, and Oswin.

I like the name, I find it classic and handsome. Despite the bad associations...Lee Harvey Oswald (allegedly, just had to add allegedly).

I like it, it's on my list of names I'd consider using. I feel its a nice, handsome alternative to Oscar (which is also on my list)

That the name of the Penguin in DC comics. And the last name of the Doctor's current Companion on Doctor Who.
Considering those are my only associations with that name, I've gotta say I can't see it on a real person. Too fiction and sci-fi for me personally.

Too clunky and dusty and sort of awkward. I think pretty immediately of Drew's goofy, dense friend on The Drew Carey Show.... And then Lee Harvey Oswald...

A cartoon rabbit comes to mind.I must have seen that somewhere, can't have made it up.
So no,kind of comical, I'd never use it.
