Lucy and Edgar
I'm 95% sure we will go for one of the so-called plain names on our list, and I'm not a fan of accesorised kids' names, but humour me for a moment. What would you name a brother for siblings Edgar and Lucy? A sister?sa

Why, Elinor, are Lucy and Edgar "try-hard" names too? :-Psa

Lol ... No, not in my opinion. I think they're similar in style in other ways though ... the old-fashioned feel. I like them both better than I like Milo._____________________________________________________________________Elinor

I can't actually gauge your level of seriousness! Jemima doesn't work very well in north america...and I love the nn Jem for a boy ( James or Jerome )...but thanks.

oh...I do like Helen with those two. I had Helen as a sister in a different "group," but she would fit here too. Thanks!sa

Hah! In years and years of mulling over that particular pair of siblings, I've never made that connection! I've actually never liked Peter, though. Hugh and Susan...hmm. Lucy, Edgar and Susan might be too Narnia-ish. And are the "oo" sounds in Lucy and Hugh or Lucy and Su / Susie / Sukie too much?sa

I just finished re-reading the books, so that was the first thing that hit me :o) I doubt many other people would notic.I like Peter and Hugh, but I don't think I could use them. Peter for connotations of genitalia and Hugh...well, as much as I love it, I don't think I could use it. I don't know how many people would notice that Lucy, Susan, and Edgar were Narnia-ish. Unless all the rest of the books are made into movies... But the "oo" in Lucy and Susan together don't bother me. But I like Susan with no nn. Can you imagine having a Lu and a Su? That would be too funny. Poor kids.

I noticed the Narnia connection immediately tooI love the names Peter and Susan, and Lewis created a very attractive sibset. But in this circumstance, i.e. the real world, perhaps Lucy and Edgar would go nicely with Charles and Mary.Or Klaus and Violet? ;)
