Monte / Monty
I'm really digging Monte for a girl right now. I think it's tomboyish and charming, and I quite like the idea of Rosamond "Monte". I also like Montgomery or Montague "Monty" for a boy (and Montgomery secretly for a girl, too), though I'm not sure I'd ever use either. Thoughts? Much obliged!

I am so sorry, all I can think of is The Full Monty. I am trying not to, really. However, that makes it totally unusable, especially for a girl, to me.
As a nickname though... it's pretty cool. Montgomery or even something like Simonette would work.

Haha! This actually dawned on me this afternoon, I was just walking down the street and was like, "Ohh, yeaaah." I actually have it in my DVD collection, and I can see the damn thing from where I sit with my laptop, haha. I've heard the phrase isn't used often in the US, but if you don't know the film though, and you're a Brit, all "the full monty" really means is the whole shebang. I guess that's passable? Ish?

I think Monty Don so I think masculine name, though I could see Monty on a girl. I prefer just Monty though and this spelling only rather than a longer full name

Ha, I had completely forgotten about the existence of Monty Don!Thank you :)

Monty's always nice - reminds me of James Montgomery Falsworth from Marvel Comics. :)I wouldn't have thought of Monte for a girl, but I can see it working!Montague is quite a mouthful for a fn (and quite surname-sounding as well as all that Shakespearean association), but Monty nn helps with all of that. :)I'm not sure I could get behind Montgomery for a girl, but I do like Mackenzie for a girl, and I'm not sure what the difference is. :P Maybe I just need to think about it, get myself used to it...Montgomery Faye
Montgomery Joy
Montgomery Ruth
Montgomery Rosalind
Montgomery Claire
Montgomery Johanna
Montgomery AnnetteI dunno...maybe it's growing on me already.

I'm afraid I'm not very familiar with Marvel, aside from owning a couple of old annuals, so I'm not sure who JMF is.Yeah, I don't think I'd ever use Montgomery as a girls' name. I like it in theory, but not in practise. Montgomery Faye could be cute, though. Thanks!

I have loved Montgomery nn Monty for years and years. I found Montague when we were actually naming kids in the last few years, but my husband wouldn't go for it. Then I latched onto Montego but he wasn't on board with that either.Monte for a girl, eh? Hmm. I don't like Rosamond at all, but Monte redeems it a bit. :) How about these girl Monte options:
Amaranta
Montana
Samanta / Samantha
Simonetta
Simone
Diamond (not that I would recommend this name)
Edmonda
