Jill.
Just Jill, not Jillian.I've decided that I really, really like it and love how simple it is. Thoughts? What would you pair it with? I really like Jill Katherine or Jill Katarina.

I don't like it. It reminds me of some dorky farm girl, or Jill Duggar from that annoying Duggar family.(Sorry if that's my main association. Jill is hardly ever used in Brazil, so I haven't heard it a lot.)

I like Jill - but I would usually offer the formal name i.e. Jillian--at any spelling--to allow for the nick-name to be an informal variation and to be a special entreaty for those with privileged intimacy. I do not recognize that this name is overtly "feminized in connotation", or, "belonging to females", so I'd would find little surprise to learn of a boy named Jillian / Jill. The Jack and Jill rhyme however may have Signed, Sealed, and Delivered the title of ownership among the ladies...

Jill, to me, is surrounded by clouds of question marks.I like Jill for its brisk energy; Jill could be and probably was the tennis partner of all those Joan and Pam young women in Betjeman. I knew one once who was mostly known as Jilly, though, which I just couldn't enjoy. And I vastly prefer Gillian to Jillian, but I would hope that either of them could just remain its full-length self and not get truncated.I've always enjoyed Laura Gillian. Just Jill ... off the top of my head, what about something unexpectedly exotic, like Jill Claudine? Gives it an edge.

I like it okay. It has a tomboyish vibe, in my mind. Not mannish, but canny and assertive. Not a fave, but I think it's appealing. I don't like Jillian but I do like Gillian. Jill Katherine is nice; Jill Katarina is a little weird. Jill Katrina?

I used to think Jill was a lovely and understated name, but that has changed now that the only association I have with it is the Duggars. Even the endearing face of a jill (female) wallaby can't erase such an awful image in my head. And to comment on Jillian: I much prefer Gillian. It has more substance and strength to it.

I don't care for Jill on its own but I think Gillian is pretty and I like Jilly as a nickname. I didn't consciously dislike the name Jill until I got to know one who I think is one of the angriest and most vindictive people I've ever known. She kind of ruined it for me.

I've known sweet Jill's, including an awesome doula. It's why I fell in love with the name.

Without Jillian? Nah. Jill is a very plain name to me, and not in the way Jane is. Jane still has a bit of a spark, Jill is the boring woman in the office who asks everyone who passes her cubicle if they've seen her new cat calendar and keeps track of everyone's birthdays and makes a big deal out of having a cake and reads only Danielle Steele novels and has poofy 80's hair and keeps a swear jar and never misses an episode of "Dance Moms" and OH GOD DO I HATE THE NAME JILL WITHOUT JILLIAN, KILL IT WITH FIRE.

Way too insubstantial. If I had a sister named Miriam and I got stuck with just Jill I would be distinctly unimpressed.

You sound like my sister. She hated the name Jessica and always wanted a more uncommon name like mine. I, on the other hand, hated my name and wanted more common one.Alexander would never agree to Jill so don't worry. It's just a name I love.

I don't like it. But then it's been established that I don't like short, one-syllable girls' names in general. It's my sister's middle name. She is Pamela Jill. I think it works in a case like that, as a middle name with a long first name, but I think that's the best use for it.

I really like Jill Diana (prefer Jill Diane), Jill Rebecca (unfortunately I have a terrible cousin named Rebecca and it's out. She lost custody of her son repeatedly due to abuse.) and Jill Naomi.
