I love Aveline. It would probably be near the top of my list if pronunciation was more clear. Avila I'm not familiar with.

Avila is all surname to me.Aveline reminds me of javelinas, which are cute but not a great namesake. Besides, pronunciation would be a nightmare. AV-uh-leen? AV-uh-line? AV-uh-lyn? Does it start with a long A sound? Is it two or three syllables? Etc etc etc.

I love Aveline and would love to use it one day as a middle name to honor my grandmother Evelyn. I don't think I'd use it as a first name because it does have some ambiguity in pronunciation, and doesn't really allow for a natural nickname. (Not that I think all names need nicknames, but Aveline seems long enough that I'd want to use one.)Avila I don't love *as* much, possibly because I know a family with the last name so it seems strange to me as a given. It is objectively pretty though.
