Well, I usually say Dionysus as dye-o-NYE-sus, but I guess it's supposed to be dee-o-nuy-sos. So I'd usually say dye-o-NYE-si-a but... dee-o-NUY-si-a? (I'm not entirely sure how to pronounce "nuy") Usually when I read Dionysia in my head it's dye-o-NYE-si-a or dye-o-NIS-i-a. Di
Dio
Dyo
Dia
Dya
Dee
Nyssa
Nyssie
Nys
Nysi
Nysia
Sia
Nyx
Nyxie
Dixie (I don't like that one though)
Io
Ion ??
Si
Sisi (don't like that either)

Never know if I prefer the more authentic sounding, "dee-uh-NEE-see-uh" or more vintage / Brit-chic "die-uh-NIE-see-uh." I have the same problem with Iphigenia, although with that one I'm usually on the "if-i-jeh-NIE-uh" end. One thing in favor of "dee-uh-NEE-see-uh" is the nn Deenie. :0)

I'd guess die-uh-NIZ-ee-uh, but it is a guess because I've never heard it.The obvious nn would be Di, or possibly Niz(zie).

Hi !!!I pronounce it dee-oh-NEE-zyah...What about Dido or Sissi (like Sisi the empress) as NN? I think they are lovely full names but they work perfectly as NNs for Dionysia too!Byeeeeee
