I really like the name Tigris, which was apparently the name of Saint Patrick's sister (herself a saint). But I don't think I would use the name Tigris for a person. It's better for a striped cat.

It's certainly better than Euphrates! But neither of them sounds remotely human. My French friend had a stripey cat named Tigris once; say it in a strong French accent with a silent -s, and it's quite nice. So was the cat.
There's always Tigridia, I suppose, if you could warm up to a flower name instead of a river. But I wouldn't use it.

No, it's not a good name for a person, and it sounds jus about identical to Tigress, which sounds very silly.
Even on a cat, Tigress is not that great; Tiger itself is pretty cliched, like Fluffy.

It make me think of a tiger because in Italian is "tigre".
It is also similar to the river (in Italian Tigri).
Both associations are good for a name.
Tigris become very fascinating and mysterious with them.

Tigre is also Spanish for tiger as well!

I like it. A lot. It's the type of name I normally roll my eyes at but this is different. I also like Nile. I'd call her Ti.

I feel like I've heard of a woman named Tiger. I can't remember if it was in real life or it was the name of a character. Then of course there's Tiger Woods. I think Tigris is usable. I don't think it would need a nickname.
