Re: Italian names 2017! 1
in reply to a message by Felie
Isn't it supposed to be Desirée? I think she put the accent on the wrong way :P The accent the put on it indicated a short sound whereas é indicates a long sound which is what you would want here.Angelica - not so common, but I don't really care for the sound
Giorgia - seems to be crazy common in Italy but I like it! I would suggest Giorgina, I think it is probably dated in Italy (as is Georgina in the US) but I think it could make a comeback and it is cute
Brenda - no no nooo dated, unattractive
Chloe - seems to be getting trendy in Italy. I would avoid it. Nice sound but boring and compared to Giorgia it is trendy trendy and not classic trendy
Denise - I like the Italian pronunciation of it, but isn't this kind of out of fashion in Italy? Just noticed that it has been falling rather quickly lately. It also makes me think of the little Italian girl that disappered in Sicily and that was just sad :(
Emily - like Chloe, I would stick with a name that is a classic in Italy, I suppose
Ginevra - common in Italy but overall it is nice. I still prefer Giorgia
Jessica - noooo come on, this has to be dated in Italy too :P right? It feels so 80s
Kristel - the sound is nice but it seems to have a really cheap image which is sad because it makes me think of ice/snow crystals
Mascha - hmmm no, nickname
Megan - no, dated and not nice sounding
Rachele - classic but the sound isn't my favorite
Sharon - noooo
Swami - huh? seems out of place with the others. No
Veronica - yes, nice and classicI would choose Giorgia or if she wants something less common Veronica. My favorite Italian names (used in Italy) are:Aurora but it is sooo common :(
Giorgia
Giorgina
Gemma
Nina and Clara (they seem to be rising in Italy)
Anastasia
Eliana even though this seems to be a name for old aunts in Italy ;)
Marilena
Gaia
Luna
RebeccaOkay they are not all Italian names, but used in Italy :)and I always thought that Luigina was adorable! That must be super dated but it is so so cute!

Hi !!!Wow Perrine!!
You are so interested in Italian names!Desirèe: Yes I know it is wrong. But in Italy you can find every strange spelling (also Desirè yes! With an horrible final è instead of the elegant Désirée).I'm sorry..but I find Giorgina one of the worst Italian names I've ever heard. I hope both Geogia and Giorgina will decrease.Ahahahahah lol you are right!
Chloe is "trendy trendy" !! ahahahah
In 1999 only 7 baby Chloe and in 2015...679! Crazy thing!Do you know the story of Denise Pipitone? I'm surprised!
Yes..every time I hear Denise that case is the only thing that I can see...Unfortunately... poor child.Yes..Jessica is felt definetly.
Last year only 148.
The Italian user has a quite bad taste imo.Kristel is so tacky and trashy too!Mascha: "Mascha and the Bear" is the only thing I can see in it. Infact until 2013 Mascha/Masha had 5 babies/year while 18 in 2014 and...56 in 2015!! From her list I love Angelica and Veronica.
I like Ginevra very much.As you know from all your previous topics I love Luna, Anastasia and Aurora from your list.Isn't there a new French rankling for names?
The latest was the 2010's one TTMarilena is my aunt's name and Giorgia is her daughter lolI'm really happy to talk with another person who knows Italian names!!! When you want for every question about them...I'm here! XDByeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Thank you :) Yes, I love Italian names. I lived in Italy for some time, but not anymore :( The case of Denise was all over the news, even though it had already been a few years ago at the time. Ooops I didn't even know about Mascha and the Bear :O Yes, I found a French ranking! A top 500 (or 250, not sure) until 2012. Then something happened, I don't know what, but I haven't found a list at all for 2013 and only the top 10 for 2014. Looks like they gave up on doing thorough statistics, or I just can't find them :(Here http://www.meilleursprenoms.com/prenoms_tendances/tendances_annee.htmlIt is the list for 2014. You can enter any year from 1900 to 2012 below and press enter and the give you a top (I think 250) for each single year and if you click 'prénoms par décennie' on top you get lists per decade.
