Elowen is beautiful looking and I love the meaning but when said it sounds like LON which seems like a play on LOL, my guess is it would mean Laugh Out Never.Alice is simple and classic. It is pretty and prim but not stuffy. It has many good associations and has a nice sound unfortunately it is a little bland. So I think that my choice would be Alice or a different name ending in -wen like Bronwen or Ceridwen. Or Arwen, Eirwen, Morwen, or Rhianwen.

Um, not if you pronounce it as "Eh-lo-win" which is how I say it. I don't say it as Elle-O-en. Similiar, yes but that doesn't at all phase me.

Alice - always been a solid favourite

I think both are lovely, but I prefer Alice. I just like the sound of it a little more.

I prefer Elowen. It's mysterious and magical. I don't hate Alice, but it does have a dumpy vibe for me.

Elowen looks prettier by far but I find the pronunciation clumsy which puts me off the name. Written down it does look beautiful thoughAlice is simple and nice but feels a bit meh

Alice. It's a nice, obviously female, comfortable friendly name with no explanations necessary, which works in multiple languages & has good history.I could see a point in using Elowen on a Cornish kid, but it seems far too much trouble to be landed with if you're not - the Owen part makes it sound male, & it's going to need spelling for most people.
(& also it sounds to me like a Welsh/Mexican cowboy. El Owen!)

Elowen has pronunciation issues and looks sort of infra-LOTR. Alice has playfulness, elegance, beauty and a wonderful Wonderland namesake - Robert Graves considered Alice to be the Number One British heroine! And, given enough daughters, I'd have used Alice eagerly; as it was, I gave it to a particularly pretty cat instead. Alice the Alley-Cat. Good animal.

Alice 100%. It's beautiful and classicI'm all for the revival in Cornish - my grandfather was a Cornish speaker - but a lot of these new names are a bit corny (haha) and trying to hard imo

Elowen! It's way fresher and more interesting than boring old Alice. Alice reminds me of an old maid with like seven cats or something; Elowen makes me think of an upbeat young lady with flowing blond (or brown) hair and sparkling eyes.

I like both, but I'd probably go for Elowen because it's just as beautiful and magical as Alice, but without the popularity.

Alice by hundreds of miles.

Totally Elowen. No contest. Alice is too boring to me.
