Re: Solomon, Ebenezer & Lazarus
in reply to a message by Joiya
I love Solomon. I'm not sure I'd call it "bold" but maybe that's because it's been one of my favorites for so long. I think it sounds: solemn, strong, sensitive, discerning...or maybe like an introvert with a good sense of humor. Miriam is a feminine name that I get a similar vibe from.I've seen people mention Ebenezer on this board before, but I've never met one (or even heard it mentioned) IRL, so mostly it reminds me of Scrooge and sneezers. It also sounds outlandlishly old-fashioned to me, kind of like the male equivalent of Hepzibah, but maybe that's part of it's charm?I've never heard Lazarus used either. It tends to make me think of the desert or a cave...also: Westerns, lizards, laziness, and zombies...because that's what I associated with the sound of the name and the story of the biblical Lazarus when I was a kid. I agree it could be nice as a MN, though I slightly prefer Lazaro. As for other names similar in style...maybe Hezekiah, Absalom, Itamar, Philemon, Nicodemus, Thaddeus, Tobiah, or Elioenai?
