Sophronia
Someone in another thread mentioned Sophronia, and it got me thinking ... why isn’t this name more popular? It fits the “old fashioned” names trend and is similar to names like Sophie, Sophia, Sofia, etc. WDYT of it?

I like Sophronia quite a bit! Thought I was alone.

i like how it looks far better than how it sounds..though i am a fan of how more..serious?? and dramatic a vibe it gives off than Sophia. i still like Sofia way better, but Sophronia is cool just because it's a twist on it.

The same reason you see more of Sydney than Sidonia, more Lily than Liliana, Constance than Constantia, and Willa than Wilhelmina.
Some names just sound too over-the-top for a lot of parents.

I love it. I think it's quite a lot better than Sophia, though I do like Sophia. I'd use Sophronia over Sophia any day of the week.

I don't hate it, but it sounds like the name of a big brass instrument.

honestly, that's a huge plus for me, and makes me like the name more.

You are absolutely right."Sasha plays the sophronia," sounds much more accurate than "Sasha's daughter is named Sophronia."

I adore Sophronia! It's so ornate.

Some people probably find it too elaborate and hard to pronounce, but I've always liked it. I'm a big fan of Greek names in general.

I like it. It sounds pretty and like the name of a goddess.

I really like it. Can't say why it's not popular. Maybe people find it pompous and "too much"?

Maybe Sophronia comes off as “pompous,” but so do other popular names now, like Gabriella and Arabella. There are also nicknames like Sophie and Frona that kind of bring it back down to earth a little bit.
