I like soundwise actually, and I've never liked Walter. I think it's not as awkward or old seeming. (I know Walter who is 55, one who is 23, and one who is 1... it still sounds ancient to me)
Visually it strikes me as some sort of strange childish slang for a body part? Odd reaction I know, but there it is.
I don't think it works all that well in English.
