Astor
What do you think of Astor? Would you ever use it? Do you think it works better for a boy, or girl? What middle name would you pair it with? Hmm. Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

I love the show Dexter, so it makes me think of that. Astor is the name of his step daughter. It was a bit weird for me at the time but have thought about it recently and I could see myself using it if my liking it grows. I've never thought of it for a boy though. Hmm...

My house in school was Astor, and we were rubbish. I’d feel weird using it now. I can’t really imagine it as a first, but I can see it working on a boy or girl. I think it looks like a boys’ name, but sounds like a girls’. For combos maybe Astor Benjamin or Astor Imogen.

Makes me think of a hotel, tbh.

Hi !!!Astor has an aristocratic vibe thanks to the famous Astor family (J.J. Astor who died with the Titanic is my link with it). It is a positive vibe in my mind.As a name it is a strong, simple name and only thanks to this post I read the meaning and it is a great news. It makes it better.I see it only a masculine name: Astoria is a beautiful feminine form..why not using it for a girl?I rate Astor 8/10.Some combos would be...Astor Edmund
Astor Edward
Astor George
Astor Paxmore
Astor Levi
Astor Rupert
Astor Jack
Astor Leif
Astor Earl
Astor Amos
Astor Cedric
Astor Rian
Astor Gregory
Astor Finn
Astor Raphael

One of Rita's kids in Dexter is a girl named Aster, which has a flower connection. I haven't thought about it in a while, actually, but it was on my list briefly. I like the sound. So I guess I'd use the Astor spelling for a boy, Aster for a girl.

I kind of like Aster Lennox. Also, I'm digging the Wesleigh spelling, even though it's not something I usually go for. It works as a middle name, though.

Astor has a regal feeling to it. It sounds like someone who’s important to me. I only like it on a boy, the girls can have Astrid.Astor Brandon
Astor Jonathan
Astor Julian
Astor Phineas

For me it's inseparable from the famous wealthy family name, so it sounds pretentious to me. Would never use.It seems masculine to me, but if it's as pretentious as it sounds, it could be a girl name too - since the dropping of important surnames as first names, is done with girls as well as boys. On a girl, to me it seems very stuck up. On a boy, I can sort of pretend it might possibly be just a first name - like, his parents never heard of the name Astor except when they saw it in a name dictionary. If I pretend it's just an ordinary guy name, it's alright. Nifty meaning. But the "Ass" sound keeps me from really loving it. Same as with Aster.Matchy middle name: Astor Willoughby
Contrasty middle name: Astor Tanith
Flowy popular middle name: Astor Emilia, Astor Logan
