Ayla
What do you think of Ayla? I like the Turkish name Ayla which means 'moon' and is pronounced EYE-la. But you can also tell me what you think of the different name Ayla AY-la :)

Well, I think it's pretty but it feels incomplete when you consider how well-known names like Layla and Kayla are. It needs a little something.
I think the Turkish pronunciation is nice enough but it's not very practical for non-Turkish people; you can't expect them to know it's "Eye-La" without being told.
The Ay-la pronunciation is also nice, but like I said, feels lacking. If people are familiar with the Earth's Children series, they'll recognize Ayla as one of the main characters, and as I recall, in the first book of the series, the name's pronunciation isspecifically stated as the closest the Neanderthals could come to Ayla's actual name.

Hi Perrine !!!I really like the Turkish Ayla because It is in the same pattern of many beautiful names.First of all the element 'ay' (moon) that I met in Sonay, Nuray, Aysel and Aygul, all names in my PNL.After It is similar to Layla that means 'night' both in Arabic and Hebrew. Then Ayla is similar to the name Hala that in Arabic is the circle light around the moon.So as you can see all these names share the night-theme and a similar sound.I also like the Hebrew form ad many botanic-names like Tamar, Shoshana, Varda, Ilana, Sabrina, Hadassah, Alon, Erez...So... 8.5/10 XD
