Geary
So what do you think of the name Geary for a boy?(Yes, I've run across it IRL.)

I think of Geary Blvd in San Francisco. It sounds like a surname name.
And I'd guess he's probably born around the peak of popularity of Gary.
I don't like the sound of it. Eerie Geary.

Meant to sound like Gary or Gerry or “gear”? I like Gerry as a nickname.

It sounds like the whiny baby voice my mom uses when she asks my stepdad, Gary, for a favour.Or the dad got to pick the name, and his hobbies are working on cars and not thinking things through.

Always changing; sometimes going backwards ...

As a variant of Jerry, It's acceptable. But "gear" is pronounced with a 'hard g' sound. Instinctively, I say "G (as in goat) - eer - ee". That sound weird to my ears, like a mispronounciation of Gary.
