It sounds like a whiny teenager in a 70s film. I like the Whitney Houston association though.

I've always liked Whitney, as a feminine name (despite its masculine history). Perhaps it's due to the legacy of Whitney Houston that I see it as solely being feminine. I suppose the name Courtney is similar, also ending in -tney and having famous female bearers despite a masculine history, but while I perceive Courtney as being incredibly harsh I think Whitney is very elegant.

It's certainly very date-stamped. Otherwise it's sort of an unremarkable surname name. It reminds me of horses - I guess because it's similar to "whinny."
