Don’t really like it. It’s too popular and looks too much like the word “olive”, though it’s much better than the actual name Olive.

Whoops, I just realized that you meant Oliva and not Olivia. Still has the olive association, and will commonly be mistaken for Olivia.

As a word, too botanical. As a name, in a world where Olivia has been so very popular, it invites confusion. And, for those of us who don't practise rhoticism in the public streets, too close to Oliver for comfort.

I have only ever heard Oliva as a surname, I think they would be damned to a life of being mistaken for Olivia.

It’s a yawn-fest. I’m sure it was pretty once.ETA: I totally misread it as Olivia, which I think highlights a big problem with it. Plus it sounds identical to Oliver in my accent, which is still pretty dull. Sorry!
