I admire it as well. I think it's such a stunning and beautiful name. It's also different and fresh, an underused gem of a name. I first came across it while reading the Grisha series by Leigh Bardugo a couple of years back. (Anyone else ever read it?) and fell in love with the name ever since. (: Alina Starkov was her name and was the main protagonist.

Might be OK as a nn, but as a full name it seems limp and flimsy.

It sounds and looks so pretty. Similar as Amelia but more original without being too out there.

It's a bit too bland and delicate to me. Alina is the name of a character in "Balladyna", apparently one of the greatest Polish romantic dramas, but it's pretty much a shameless rip off of Macbeth lol

I'm not a fan of it. It sounds like it's missing something and should maybe be Halina or Galina.

I'm sorry, it's always felt really unsubstantial for me, like someone just combined three pleasing syllables. It doesn't seem have a strong meaning or history. I even met an Alina and I didn't care much for it. It's not terrible, just not my taste.I much prefer Lina. I've met a Lina with Persian heritage and she wore her name proudly. Her sister was Aliza, which I love even more, and I would consider using myself.I also have a soft spot for Halina, since I'm part Polish. I think it's sweet.

I love it. I knew an Alina in elementary and I always loved the sound of her name, and it suited her so well.
It's a nice name that is neither too ostentatious nor too plain.

I find it really sweet - it's a name that's fairly common where I'm from, and it has a special way of coming off as delicate yet strong. I think any namesake would end up being a badass, lol :).
