Sagacious
Encountered this one in a local homeschool group. What do you think? I think it's a bold choice as far as virtue names go, but I don't like that it starts with Sag.~Anna~

Horrible. A train wreck.

My first thought is that someone picked a babyname while studying for SATs. Or, they wanted Sage or Wisdom, but those weren't smart enough for them.
...if that was actually the case, and they wanted something bold, I feel like Sophocles or Sophronia would be a cooler name to have.Maybe this is nitpicking, but while I like some words as names, I don't love adjectives as names. I'm more into nouns and verbs as names.
Though Sagacity would sound worse, so whatever.I wonder what the middle name is; if it's a noun, maybe I'd respect the FN more.

Well that's unfortunate. °~°

A bit ridiculous, especially if the child turns anything but. I don’t think it sounds particularly nice either.

And I thought my name was bad...

Interesting choice. A little over the top, but with a cute nickname... maybe. My husband tends to joke about someone's "sagacious wisdom" when they say something completely obvious or useless. So my mind went there first.

I like the word, and I would much rather be named Sagacious than Charity or Chasity. Virtue names in general carry a lot of pressure, but I love the nickname possibility of Saga, which sounds epic.

Over-ambitious; too much pressure. I hope she's got a mainstream mn, but she probably hasn't.

Holy crap, I'm glad that ain't my name. Jeez. It's awful. It sounds not like a name somebody gave because of its actual meaning but just because they liked the sound and had no idea it was an actual word. An unintentional joke of a name.

haha what does that word even mean, besides being a virtue??? lol his/her parents probably just pulled out a random dictionary word... or maybe they were Puritans... idk. But I agree, it's a very, VERY bold choice!EDIT: I just Googled it, and I take back my first statement. I hold with the rest, though.
