Avon
What do you think of the name Avon? (F) I’m considering using it as my pseudonym. Unsure yet of a surname. Ay-von, ah-von?

LOL...my mom sold Avon, for a while. So, when I hear this as a name, I think of going on calls with her and being trapped in some elderly woman's house while my mom rambled on about face cream. I can't get behind it.

Avon calling!I have never actually seen an Avon Lady, but it's such an embedded part of American culture it's all I can think of.

Better than Avalon. It's ok. A as in apple, + vaughn.

That’s a better explanation of the pronunciation, it’s actually quite similar to Yvonne.

Avon Calling! When I was growing up, Avon was a brand of cosmetics and cheap jewelry that used to be sold door-to-door: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66IWgU9AAisI think they might still exist? It has a quaint retro brand-name quality to it, like Spam or Tang or Betty Crocker. I like it but I'm not sure how it'd look as a pseudonym unless you really want it to be evocative of a certain "type". Which is totally ok of course, just something to be aware of.

Still is in the UKI have three or four FB acquaintances who still sell Avon products. They're always trying to recruit more "Avon ladies"

Now that you mention it.. I forgot all about them! I haven’t heard about the brand in years, so that doesn’t bother me. I think, paired with a surname, the name will give off a different vibe and you won’t immediately think of the cosmetic brand.Avon Bradford - journalist?
Avon Lopez - romance novelist?
Avon Carmichael - historian?(Using some random surnames)

I think Avon has great potential as a romance novelist name. It's got those references to daydreaming housewives AND Shakespeare, which is fantastic. Afon would be good too.
