What do you think of Elisha?Middle name suggestions? What would you think if someone used it for a girl? **Starfish and coffee, maple syrup and jam/Butterscotch clouds, a tangerine, and a side order of ham**

Sadly if I saw the name I would assume it was a little girl, with a spelling variation of Alisha / Alicia. For a boy, I would only use it as a mn, for the reason mentioned. Elisha is a handsome name for a boy.

It sounds masculine to me since it makes me think of Elijah's protege in the Bible. Soundwise, it has Eli (another Old Testament figure) meets Shaquille O'Neal vibes. I would expect the name to be pronounced differently as a girls' name.
Boy: EE-LIE-shə
Girl: El-ee-shə - more like Alisha or Alicia.

As a Bible reader, it's quite masculine to me but I have seen it used on girls so I'm not surprised when I hear it used as feminine. It works on both genders imo. I quite like Elisha, I find it soft and simple.

In the UK it only charts for girlsI doubt many people here know it is a male Biblical name. Most Elisha's I know use it as an Alicia variant and parents use it to get "Eli" (pronounced like Ellie) for their daughters.

And another boy name bites the dust.

I'm really just tired of both Elisha and Elijah. But otherwise, I basically like it. For a boy only. I actually do have a relative who named her daughter Elisha, though they pronounce the I with the short sound, not the usual long I sound. I'm not a fan.

I really like Elisha. There's something smart and romantic about it. It's pretty quirky in an old-fashioned way. I wouldn't mind if someone used it for a girl, I can see why they would. In fact I feel pretty certain that I knew a female Elisha growing up - I think she said it "eh-LEE-sha"Middle name ideas:Elisha Rufus

I'm never sure how it's pronounced with a long I? Then Elijah is so much better. With a long ee sound? Then Alicia is less trouble.

Yes, like Elijah, but with the -sh sound.

I don't like it. It's too easily confused and the sound just doesn't work.
