Mary
What do you think of Mary?Do you think it's plain and boring, or do you think it's a classic that still has a lot of good things going for it?What would you use as a middle name?

Lovely, always has been. Such a classic beauty, name are only boring if they are flash in the pan name spike fads, not when they have centuries of staying power.

I love Mary! It's my second favourite girl name at the moment. I love how classic it is, I love the sound. I think it has a very warm, kind energy to it. My go to combo for it is Mary Mirabel. I also love double names with Mary and those can be seen as fn mn combos too, and of those my favourite rn is Mary Eliza.

Thanks, everybody.I like some of the combos you all suggested. I'm not naming anything right now, but it's much appreciated. :)

Bloody boring and bland. It would need a very interesting mn to balance that out. And it's hard to avoid the combo sounding like a nun's name.Mary Sophronia
Mary Parthenope
Mary Quirine
Mary Zenobia
Mary Ariadne

Mary is a pretty name that I’ve always liked. I like the combos Mary Hope, Mary Celeste, and Mary Janae.

I prefer Maria and Miriam, but Mary is warm, solid, and surprisingly underused nowadays. I'd love to meet a young Mary who goes by Polly. It is dull, but not more so than Elizabeth and John, both of which continue to be used and are highly unlikely to ever die out.Mary Amalthea
Mary Arcadia
Mary Charmian
Mary Chryseis
Mary Clematis
Mary Harriet
Mary Hildegard
Mary Narcissa

I think it's very beautiful, wonderful, and would fit any kind of woman at any age. It is plain at classic but I think it has its own charm. I'm definitely going to pair it as Mary Elizabeth, Mary Janet, or Mary Margaret.

I think it's a classic. Old-timey, maybe, but genuinely lovely.I do have a hard time with middle names. A lot of middle names feel over-done and incompletely (Mary Elizabeth? Mary Catherine?)

Mary has been growing in me a lot lately. It’s classic, simple, and beautiful. It has a sense of cool sacredness these days. Maria is beautiful, and so is Miriam, but Marie and Mary make top spot for me. You really don’t hear it much anymore. Not even as a middle name. The meanings are lovely and it’s definitely a unique choice these days. I find it quite similar to my name, in it’s mythological sense. The only thing I don’t like about it is the Marry thing which sounds like you’re gonna marry someone when you pair the second name kind of.Mary Helen (I knew a girl named this once)
Mary Anna (Paul McCartney’s mother and daughter bear this name)
Mary Beatrix
Mary Isadora
Mary Celia
Mary Annabelle
Mary Vivienne
Mary Octavia
Mary Olivia
Mary Belle

I love it. It's so classy, timeless, and beautiful. It's so very common.

Mary is a rather common name, but I really do like it. Some may consider it outdated, but I consider it a classic that has aged very well.

I know a young Mary who will be around 10 now. Mary was named after her grand aunt. Grand aunt was proud as punch and child likes her name as she is an only in class.

If I met a young person named Mary, I’d think it’d be kinda cool. People over 25, not so much.
I wouldn’t use it myself since it’s kind of boring, but it still has a good sentiment behind it especially if you’re a Christian. Although, it sorta takes the meaning out of whoever’s being named and gives it to her children, but it’s not a problematic name at all, just a little outdated.
