Greer and Mandy for f/f twins
I'm not that far along but already panicking about what to name my girls. I asked about Mandy in the past but what do you guys think of Greer? I really like it (obv) but I was wondering what connotations it has for you?

Those two names don’t really go together in my opinion. Mandy is a (kind of) dated nickname and Greer is an uncommon surname.

I really hate Greer, but I love the suggestion of Greta! Other options are Gretel and Gretchen.
And Mandy is okay, but how about Amanda, Miranda, or Madeline as a full name?Congrats on your twins!

Greer sounds like a sloppy, nasal, dialectal pronunciation of Greta. It grates like the gear it resembles. I honestly prefer Mandy, and that is a stretch. By the way, what about Miranda as a name that can also shorten to Mandy? I find it preferable, for what that's worth. In fact, Greta (short e) and Miranda would be a pleasant and interesting twin set!

Greer and Mandy are grouped among names I find perversely ugly. Greer is so growly and rough, while Mandy is so nasal and saccharine.

They're wildly clashing, if that matters to you. And Greer... well, I don't hate it as bad as I haate Sloane, is about the best I can say of it. Because I do hate it, I just think it sounds awful. It's just unpleasant to say.

Sorry, but I think they're awful. Mandy is nickname-y and dated, and Greer is wildly unappealing. They don't even go together. I'd go back to the drawing board on this one.

I really can't stand Greer, it sounds like gears grinding or someone gnashing their teeth. It doesn't sound at all like a sister to Mandy. Mandy is childish and dated; Amanda may not be in style now but it's pretty much a classic and is more grown-up than Mandy.

Idk why but it always reminded me of the 50s and I have no clue why. The first time I saw it was on a movie poster for Julius Caesar, which was filmed back then. Honestly, by thoughts are: -reminds me of names like Blaine, Parker, and Briar. Can work well on most girls, but still don’t have a super girly feel.
-it doesn’t go well with Mandy (they make each other look kind of nerdy and weird for lack of a better term) and neither of them have the same vibes either
-sounds like “queer” which could lead to bullying especially in middle school I also think you should use Amanda as a legal name instead of Mandy.
Greer isn’t as bad as I’m making it out to be but I feel like it’s just one of those names someone might dislike having, and not just because of the bullying thing. That’s all.

So honestly, just don’t name her Greer. It’s not worth the risk.
