There was a little boy at the park yesterday, probably around 2, called Davy. I'm guessing his full name was David. I've never liked David before and I've always that that Davy sounded really 70s but it was just SO cute on this kid. It kind of made me think if I ever had another boy, I'd consider David "Davy." WDYT?

I like Davy. I like Davy Crockett, Gypsy Davy, and all those associations. I think it works on a child as well as on a chainsaw-wielding lumberjack or porch-sitting grandpa.

I used David as my son's middle name: it's a family name, my birth ln was Davies, a good friend is married to an excellent David, known as Dave ... I don't enjoy Davy at all. My aunt calls her husband Davy and it sounds so juvenile; and then there's Mr Crockett and his coonskin cap, which is enough to put me right off.

David is a family name, we never use Davey, we always thought it goofy - that was our childhood condemnation.

It's fine. It reminds me of the 1950s. Cartoons, picnics in the park, watching TV with the whole family, friends are called James "Jimmy" and Robert "Bobby". It has this idyllic image of the 1950s as it is portrayed in old TV shows (even though I am sure it wasn't as idyllic as they make it look). It's like "Pleasantville" in a way. David "Davy" grows up to marry a girl called Betty-Sue and lives happily ever after in a house with a perfect lawn and two kids and a dog and the only problems they ever face is that the nosy neighbor sometimes spies on them.
I don't think it's quite ready for a comeback but it's certainly a decent name and fine to use.

Danny seems more expected to me, but maybe Davy will get slightly more popular as Navy does; it sounds similar to Maeve, Ava, Waverly too. I feel like it has a nice sound (I've always liked the sound of David, though) and does make David less staid seeming.
Davy to me seems either 1950s preppy or backwoodsy like Davy Crockett. Or just a sweet sounding boy name like Jesse. I don't think of the 70s particularly.

I LOVE David actually, it’s one of my favourites. Davy is a cute nickname but it’s so childish as a full name.

I like David, but Davy is so babyish. It's like Timmy or Stevie; it's a nn that stays in diapers. Bobby or Johnny grow up, Nicky and Joey only grow up if the bearer is a Mafioso, but Timmy and Stevie and Davy ar all stuck in toddlerhood.
I do like Dave as a nn for David, it'd be kind of comical to see a little Dave, it's such a grown-up sort of name. Like Bill or Bob, it's funny to think of a little one.
