Meg vs. Maggie
Which nickname would you choose for Margaret, and why? Hmm. Your ideas are intriguing to me, and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

I’d choose Meg to Maggie, because my brother has a dog called Maggie. Regardless, I’d prefer to use Margaret in full; Margaret is a beautiful name.

Ugh. Maggie if I had to. Definitely better than Meg, at the very least.

I was just thinking of the prolific list of nicknames for Margaret yesterday after Chaka posted the birth announcements with Madita in them. From your options I prefer Meg. Maggie has never been attractive to me. If I could choose something else, I’d go with Maisie or maybe Rita.

Maggie, it’s sweet and softens the stern Margaret. Meg is unattractive to me.

Maggie, seems the most common go to, and very cute

Maggie. Just feels more comfortable to me than Meg. Meg is nice, but seems more like it's for Megan (which I often forget is a form of Margaret)

I like Meg because it's simpler and more dainty. AG is not a pleasant sound to me.

I like both, Meg is rarer though so I’d probably use that.

I like Meg since it's not as common and to the point.

Interesting. I greatly enjoyed Little Women, but the sisters' names never appealed. Meg has become trite in the wake of the extreme popularity of Megan, which also puts me off. Maggie rather than Meg, then. And certainly Maggie rather than Margie (g as in Gloria, not Georgia), which is the go-to South African nn for Margaret. But, IRL, I like Margaret very much and would use it as a full name, no nns. Or, if necessary, I'd prefer Peggy to all the rest.

Maggie. It's cute and I think it looks nice on any age. Meg is too bland.
