Is the name Brian too dated/dusty?
What do you think of Brian? Nice name or too Gen X?

I have some unpleasant associations with that name, so I might be biased, but yeah, I'd have a hard time imagining a kid named Brian ... feels VERY Gen-X to me

I think it is a nice name and has a fun Scottish/Irish warrior feel (Brian Boru), but it was very popular in the 1970s. It will probably be ready for a resurgence in about 10- 15 years when Grandpas are being honored. It wouldn't be bad to have a young Brian now, but there isn't quite enough time between now and the 1970s for the name to be retro cool.

I think it's a little bit out of style, but seeing as how Ryan (which I hate) is still very popular, Brian wouldn't really feel that dated.

nice name.

Yes. It’s VERY 1980s/90s and has a very “random guy name “ vibe.

Yeah. It's also incredibly nerdy to me. Makes me think of 'brain'.

I like it

Where I live, it goes much further back than Gen X - more like the 1940s and before. I like it very much and, given enough sons, wouldn't at all mind using it. I can't imagine little Brian hunched over his phone or iPad - he'd be outside climbing trees!

Always hated this one. Such a fusty crusty name.

Yeah, it’s dated.

If you like it don’t pay attention to when it was cool. All the best and good luck with your baby!
