Melba is so charming and brassy. A great name!

This is a great name, although very tied to the toast for me. It's friendly and well rounded. There's something Southern Gothic about this name, makes me think of Delta (the name, the ecosystem, and the Greek letter). I'd love to meet a Melba!

Reminds me of peach Melba more than anything else.

Hi!Melba is quite fascinating.
It is short and linked with great women such as Melba Mounton, the mathematician, and Nellie Melba, of couse. It would sound refreshing used by Italian expats in Australia, for example, because it is simple and quite Italian-sounding. Actually it isn't used but, well, it would be nice. Unfortunately Melba in Italian seems 'melma' meaning "slime, sludge". What a pity!

Way too culinary, and also operatic, and a lnfn at that. Three strikes, and it's out.

I knew someone in her early 40s with this name. She was named after the Australian soprano Nellie Melba.Honestly, it's not bad, but there are better names out there.

Melba toast works for me. I've never had peach Melba but I bet it would work too.
As a name, ... no. It's like a joke name. Someone's crazy aunt or bizarre nosy neighbor. There was/is a r&b singer called Melba Moore. She was all set to have her own TV sitcom, but the night it was supposed to premier, most regular programming was pre-empted because the space shuttle Challenger had blown up earlier that day; the show had to wait a few months, and it was not a success. (I only read about that the other day so it's fresh in my mind.)

I was listening to her earlier, which made me ask this question. :)
