This name is one that seems trendy on the surface, but has a deep history behind it, so I can't help but like it (esp. when associating it with James Franco, LOL). Also, I know a little Hawaiian boy, 10 years old, with this name and he's a cutie and very sweet, so I associate it with him as well. :)

*Adore* it to bits! It's my favorite boys name, and future DS's name.

I think of a very strong and intelligent person, with a distinct artistic / musical streak. One of my brother's very closest friends is a Tristan and the name suits him perfectly. He's also the only person with the name that I know personally.Tristan is one of my favourite boys' names, for instance, Tristan Marius is one of my favourite name combinations. That puts what I percieve as being two 'strong-sounding' names together.PP's in Profile

I think of Tristan & Isolde, but I like the movie and I like the myth so it's a good connection. I really love the name Tristan.

I automatically think of this really horrible girl I went to school with in seventh grade... I never did anything to her, but for some reason she was absolutely horrible to me. The only two physical fights I was ever in were both with her, and she started both of them. The name has been forever tainted in my mind. :/------

unfortunately I know a very annoying child by this name and it autimatically reminds me of him..

Likewise, but . . .The only Tristan I know is a pretty nice guy. Since he's a fellow English major, I find his name charmingly appropriate.Magnanimous Despair alone could show me so divine a thing, where feeble hope could ne'er have flown, but vainly flapped its tinsel wing.

Yep, and...The kajillions of whiny little boys named Tristan that I've been acquainted with. It's getting ridiculously popular in my neck of the woods.Array
