Melina
This name has been floated in and out of my head for years, even before I was really into names. So... opinions? combos? TIA

I think it's very pretty, and a nice alternative to Melinda and Melissa, both of which have been done to death.

I love Melina. The Greek actress Melina Mercourri (sp?) first brang it to my attention. I beleive it means "sweet one," as "mel" means honey in Greek / Russian. I've always thought Melina Zoe or Zoe Melina would make a nice combination.

Like itThis name is really growing on me. It has a pleasant sound & what I really like about it is that it is not too popular. It is simple & elegant - an excellent choice imo. Oh & it's not too difficult to find a suitable mn for it, but I'll leave that pleasure for you. Be sure to share it with us when you do choose a mn for Melina.:o)

I love it. It's definitely among my favorite Greek names and because of that, I tend to only like it paired with other Greek names (or English forms of Greek names).

Thank you so much for all of the combos!! I am always impressed when people can come up with so many.I especially like:
Melina Giselle - very interesting, and Giselle is intriguing
Melina Ruth - I like the flow, and the frill of Melina is balanced nicely by the more serious, simple Ruth
Melina Rae - it just works for some reason
Melina Sage - I have a thing for one syllabel middles names sometimes...
Melina Katherine - Katherine is a family name, so it would be a nice mn and it works
Melina Caroline - I really like the flow, and Carol is a family name as well
Melina Francesca - this one works well to me too, I like it
Melina Juliet - this may be my favorite. I love it!

Thank you so much! I really like the combos. It is especially interesting that you listed Melina Jean. I did not know how people would feel about the repetitive -ee sound in Melina and Jean. If I did end up using Melina in the future, the mn would most likely be Jean--it is an extremely important family name. It is good to see that you think it works!!

I love the name Jean and would be thrilled to meet a little Jean one day. I find it very refreshing, especially in the fn spot. Would you ever consider using it as a fn? Perhaps with the nn Jeanie? My favorite combination is Jean Elizabeth / Elspeth.
