I'm not a big fan of nicknames-as-given-names but there are a few that I find more "acceptable" than others. I like:
Maisie - Prefer as a nn for Margaret or Mairead, but I don't mind it as a given name
Mamie - nn for Mary or Miriam
Millie/Milly - nn for Millicent, Amelia
Tillie/Tilly - nn for Matilda
Tess - actually I prefer this as a given name (not as fond of Theresa for some reason)
Libby - nn for Elizabeth
Nellie/Nell - nn for Eleanor, Penelope
Sadie - ok on its own
Annie - ok on its own but prefer as a nn for Anna
Maggie/Meg - nn for Margaret (or Marguerite)
Lulu - nn for Louise, Louisa, Tallulah
Lottie - nn for Charlotte

I think the following names could stand on their own.
Maisie (I think it's cute. I know a sibset with this...Samantha, Maisie, and Matthew)
Tess (Although I like Tessa, this is nice too.)
Sadie (Love)
Allie (I've always liked the name Allie, just not a big fan of the typical Allison or Alyssa that it was always a nn for. It makes me think of The Notebook too.)
Annie (Not a huge fan of it, but it could definitely work on its own.)
Maggie (Very cute)

I like Nellie, Annie, and Sadie. Especially Nelli! Sounds very elegant. Bess...Bettie...Betty...sound very old.

I'd really prefer them all as NNs, but I think Sally could stand on its own. Some of the others probably can (like Annie), but I don't like it.

Lolly - what is this the pet name of? We call my youngest Lolly, but it's all about lollipops.

Maisie, Sadie, Sally, and Polly could all stand alone. I think it's because they don't sound as much like the names they derive from, as to be obvious pet names.I like most of the others on this list, too, but as nns.
