SIBYL - original meaning?
As this site says, Sibyl at a time became a synonyme for “prophetess”. But what does the name itself mean? I haven’t been able to find any trustworthy information on this. Maybe Pavlos can help?Andy ;—)

As far as I know, it was first used for the Sibyl at Cumae (source: the Aeneid)--who was a prophetess. I think it was made-up then. I'm not completely sure. It could mean something in Etruscan.
