I've heard that the Inuit name Anouk means 'ice bear'. But usually in other parts of the world it's seen as a pet form of Anna.

I taught an Anouk once who claimed Inuit origin for her name. (In South Africa, where Inuit are, let's sy, very rare.) Unfortunately she couldn't give any more information - but clearly there is a belief in Inuit origins that must have come from somewhere.

Anu'k, as I believe it is spelt, is an Inuit name. I am trying to get ahold of my inuit friend in the NWT for more info, but apprntly shes not reading her emails, or at least not mine, lol.
